Tips for securing your balcony
5
It's only natural, especially if you live in an urban environment! Your balcony is like the treasure of your apartment, a precious sesame that's particularly coveted. The only problem is that, compared to last summer, there are a few changes in your life that call for a slight redesign of the balcony. As it is, it becomes a source of danger, or at least stress, so you need to make it safe.
Avoiding the risk of falls
Of course, there's no substitute for adult supervision, but if you have a young child, or if you're planning to welcome your little nephews and nieces, there are solutions to secure your balcony and limit the risks and dangers of falling.
The same is true if you're now the proud owner of a furry little animal - a cat, a rabbit, a dog, etc. And yes, a balcony is a nice place to have breakfast in the open air, to read a book outside, to sunbathe - why not - but in the event of an accident, it's immediately less appealing.
To prevent any problems, we've come to your rescue with a few tips for securing your balcony without disfiguring it.
Install fencing
You'll find it in any DIY store or garden center. Fencing comes in rolls of various lengths and heights. Choose fine-mesh, plastic-coated fencing that won't rust: it's easy to install and requires no maintenance.
This way, children no longer have a foothold from which to climb the balcony railing (of course, you've also removed any objects that might serve as stepping stones, such as flower pots, tables, chairs, etc.), and the fine mesh of the netting won't allow even the little dwarf rabbit to escape.
Installing a privacy screen
A privacy screen has several advantages. In addition to protecting your balcony, a privacy screen also gives you a little bit of privacy, away from the prying eyes of your neighbors or passers-by. Sold in DIY stores and garden centers, privacy screens come in a variety of versions: bamboo or reed canisse, simple green plastic sheeting, woven green fabric... there's something to suit every taste and style. It's also a perfectly economical solution, allowing you to combine safety and peace of mind!

Ask your condominium association for information
Before investing, if you're in a condominium, it's a good idea to find out which balcony conversion solutions are accepted. If you don't, you could be in for a nasty surprise, and more importantly, you could soon receive a letter from your condominium association!
